Rhino Ark recently received a £3,500
donation thanks to safe working practices demonstrated
by staff at High
Speed 1 Ltd in London. Construction
and maintenance workers on the Brill Place site
near St Pancras International - formerly the site
of the High Speed 1 project offices - recently
achieved the milestone of 400,000 hours worked
without a serious accident.
High Speed 1 is the high speed railway stretching
between St Pancras International in London and
the mouth of the Channel Tunnel and connects with
the international high speed routes between London
and Paris, and London and Brussels. HS1 Ltd is
the organisation that owns St Pancras International,
the High Speed 1 railway as well as Ebbsfleet
and Stratford International stations.
Under a HS1 scheme to reward safe working practices,
HS1 and contractors Spie Matthew Hall, Volker
Fitzpatrick and John Stacey donated £3,500
to Rhino Ark. The cheque was presented to Guy
Tritton, Rhino Ark UK Trustees chairman, by Danny
Stephens of Spie Matthew Hall, Steve Webber of
Volker Fitzpatrick and Andrew Stoner of John Stacey
and High Speed 1 Director Kit Kaberry at a ceremony
at St Pancras International. Kit has previously
supported Rhino Ark by entering the UK Rhino Charge
4x4 event which is run to raise money for the
charity.
Rhino Ark would like to thank all concerned for
their kind support.
